The green pills in this piece (originally white), are real EXPIRED antidepressants from Loz City’s family member. This family member no longer takes this prescription, but had extra left over when they stopped. The pills are generic Lexapro, and they are not a controlled substance, nor are they on the “flush list”. These pills would have been thrown out if they were not recycled into artwork.
By using antidepressants in this piece, Loz City hopes to open up a conversation about the de-stigmatization of antidepressants. No one should feel ashamed or embarrassed for taking/needing medicine for mental health purposes, or for talking to mental health professionals.
This artwork comes in a simple black frame, no glass in the frame. With frame, artwork is 13in x 13in. All artworks are signed by the artist and include a LOZ CITY Certificate of Authentication.
